David Guetta

David Guetta, a French electronic music producer, became a prominent figure in the world of music by blending Daft Punk's sleek house music with electroclash in the early 21st century. His house anthems quickly became a fixture on dance charts worldwide, with One Love and Nothing But the Beat topping international charts during the late-2000s EDM boom. Guetta often collaborated with famous names from the pop and rap worlds such as Nicki Minaj, Sam Martin, Sia, Morten, Chris Willis, Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, and Afrojack, earning him two Grammy Awards in 2011. In 2020, he released the EP New Rave and partnered with Sia for the ebullient international synthwave/pop hit "Let's Love." In 2022, his track "I'm Good (Blue)" featuring Bebe Rexha climbed to the Top Ten of Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Originally from Paris, the artist who goes by the name David Guetta had been DJing around France, spinning popular tracks. However, his music career took a transformative turn in 1987 when he heard a Farley Jackmaster Funk track on French radio. He quickly recorded the track, brought a copy to a gig, and played it during one of his own sets, clearing the dance floor with its new sound. A year later, the arrival of acid house music in France gave Guetta the opportunity to promote his own club nights successfully. During one of those nights in 1992, he met Robert Owens, a well-known house music icon from Chicago who was touring Europe at the time. Guetta played Owens some of his original tracks, and Owens selected one he liked enough to sing over. The outcome was "Up and Away," a minor hit that stayed under the radar in garage DJ crates for the next four years.

The mix CD titled "F*** Me I'm Famous!" showcases Guetta's free-spirited approach to DJing and music production. He believed that his best work came from simply having fun, which is why he did not release anything until 2001's "Just a Little More Love." The track was a collaboration with American gospel singer Chris Willis, whom Guetta met while on vacation in France. "Just a Little More Love" was initially released in an electro version and later remixed by Wally Lopez to become a hit that continued to appear in sets for two years. During this time, Guetta also released a bootleg remix of David Bowie's "Heroes," which he retitled "Just for One Day." Bowie eventually approved the remix for official release, and Guetta gained massive success. He included the track on his debut mix CD, which was named after his successful party in Ibiza, "F*** Me I'm Famous!"

After several years of DJing and producing tracks, David Guetta finally released a collection of his own productions in 2004, called Just a Little More Love on Astralwerks. This was followed by Guetta Blaster and Poplife in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Poplife featured Chris Willis on lead vocals and multiple dance singles from the album became popular in several countries. Guetta's summer club events in Ibiza were captured on the album Fuck Me I'm Famous: International, Vol. 2 which was released in July 2008. One Love, his platinum-selling album, was released a year later, featuring hit singles like "When Love Takes Over" with Kelly Rowland, "Sexy Bitch" with Akon, and "Gettin' Over" with Chris Willis.

At the 52nd Grammy Awards in 2010, Guetta was nominated for five awards, including two for his album One Love and three for his work on the Black Eyed Peas' hit "I Gotta Feeling." One Love was later reissued as One More Love in the same year, with a bonus disc of new tracks and remixes. For his next album, Nothing But the Beat, released in 2011, Guetta drew inspiration from rock bands like Coldplay for his songwriting, while still featuring an impressive roster of guest artists including Akon, Lil Wayne, Flo Rida, Usher, Chris Brown, and more.

"Lovers on the Sun" was a three-song EP released in 2014 by David Guetta on his Jack Back label, featuring the singles he had previously put out. Later that same year, Guetta dropped his sixth studio album, Listen, which was a departure from his signature electro-house style. The album featured a mix of genres, including hip-hop, R&B, alternative rock, and acoustic instrumentation, and included collaborations with a diverse range of artists such as Nicki Minaj, Emeli Sandé, Sia, the Script, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. In 2015, Listen was reissued as Listen Again with new tracks and remixes, including "Bang My Head" featuring Fetty Wap and Sia.

The following year, Guetta collaborated with a handful of other artists, including Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Afrojack, Justin Bieber, Kiiara, Charli XCX, and

French Montana. He started off 2018 by releasing two collaborations with Sia ("Helium" remix and "Flames"), and followed up with another Top Ten hit, "Mad Love," featuring Sean Paul and Becky G. His seventh studio album, titled 7, was released in September of that year. The album included previously released singles such as "2U" and "Flames," and featured collaborations with Anne-Marie, Bebe Rexha, J Balvin, Jason Derulo, Martin Garrix, Jess Glynne, Steve Aoki, Lil Uzi Vert, G-Eazy, and many others. The album also included a bonus second disc of tracks recorded under his alter ego, Jack Back.

He released the EP New Rave in July 2020, which included the track "Kill Me Slow" featuring Morten. Later that year, he reunited with Sia for the Top Ten dance single "Let's Love."
